Glutathione
A major antioxidant, glutathione, is made up of glutamine, glycine and cysteine. Known for its detoxification properties against free radical molecules, glutathione tends to be highly concentrated within organs likely to be exposed to toxins such as the kidneys, lungs and liver. As well as neutralizing free radicals, glutathione is needed to neutralize hydrogen peroxide, a toxic by-product of normal metabolism, by breaking it down into water. Glutathione thought to be needed in many stages of the immune response.
